Writing Change for a Thriving World
Partnering with purpose-driven teams to turn vision into strategies, stories, and systems that drive meaningful change.
How Writing Change Works:
Writing Change uses strategy, language, and organizational design to write change literally into reality. While writing-intensive, the Writing Change approach produces solutions that succeed in practice — not just on paper — to align and amplify social impact.
This work supports mission-driven teams in strengthening clarity, communication, and coordination:
-
Make sense of complexity and find the way forward.
Helping teams surface insights, frame challenges, and define actionable strategies that align purpose with practice.
Examples:
Strategic planning • Organizational assessments • Research & synthesis • Framework & model design • Facilitation for alignment & decision-making -
Turn insight into clear, compelling expression.
Crafting and refining the writing and messaging that translate ideas into action — connecting purpose to the people who make it real.
Examples:
Strategic & operational plans • Communication strategies • Impact reports • Proposals & concept notes • Public-facing appeals & storytelling -
Build the systems that help good work run well.
Designing processes, tools, and communication systems that keep people aligned and engaged — ensuring that clarity and collaboration endure.
Examples:
Workflow & handbook design • Cross-team collaboration frameworks • Meeting & communication systems • Coaching for coordination & follow-through

Your Writing Change Partner:
Juliana Essen, PhD
I'm a cultural anthropologist and social impact consultant who excels in collaborative work combining strategy, communications, and organizational development. For more than twenty years, I've supported mission-driven teams by building their capacity to make sense of complexity, communicate what matters, and create the conditions for meaningful change.
My work spans research, writing, facilitation, and systems design. I bring an integrative approach that balances analysis with empathy, structure with creativity, and clarity with care — whether I'm developing strategic plans, leading co-creation sessions, or crafting messages that move people to act.
I’m always open to collaborations that advance wellbeing, environmental sustainability and regeneration, climate resilience, gender justice, global equality, and systems change. Together, we can build a future in which all people and the planet can thrive.
